ISLAMABAD: Terrorists attacked a local court in Islamabad with automatic weapons and hand grenades, killing six people and injuring more than 30 others, including lawyers and a judge, in the early morning attack, SAMAA reported Monday.
Police said three gunmen entered the court premises in F-8 area and opened indiscriminate fire on lawyers and litigants. They also hurled a hand-grenade on the people present in the court.
People ran helter-skelter to save their lives as the gunmen slipped into court rooms. Commandos of anti-terrorism unit of the Islamabad police arrived at the court and exchanged fire with the terrorists.
Rescue teams shifted the injured to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) where spokesman said ten people died during the treatment. The dead also included a senior judge Rafaqat Awan and two lawyers.
